Partners in Community Growth and Opportunity

Setting Euclid Residents Up For Housing Success

At Euclid Development Corporation (EDCOR), we believe that every resident deserves access to safe, affordable housing and resources to help build a better future. Since our founding in 1978, we've worked tirelessly to uplift and empower our community members through innovative programs and services.

In partnership with the City of Euclid, our organization was born out of a desire to create more equitable housing opportunities for Euclid residents. We recognize that too many of our neighbors lacked the means to make critical home repairs or achieve first-time homeownership. That’s why we set out to provide the helping hand they need to obtain safe housing and begin building generational wealth.

Today, EDCOR administers various initiatives that align with our mission of investing in our residents:

  • Low Interest Home Improvement Loan Program: This 3% interest loan helps income-eligible homeowners make essential upgrades like replacing faulty electrical systems, fixing structural issues, and more. Applicants must meet federal income guidelines to qualify.

  • Down Payment Assistance: We offer down payment support for income-qualified first-time homebuyers who may not qualify for traditional loans and programs. This aid makes the dream of homeownership attainable.

  • Financial Counseling & Education: We work with partners to provide customized guidance to help residents manage finances, repair credit, and prepare for major purchases like a home.

At EDCOR, we don’t just see loan applicants and program participants—we see incredible potential for our community. We bring compassion, expertise, and a relentless drive to help our residents gain access to safe, stable housing.

Two Years of Transformation by Lisa Krieger

As I reflect on my journey with the Euclid Development Corporation, I’m filled with excitement and pride about how far we’ve come. This September marks two years since I joined EDCOR as Executive Director—and what a remarkable transformation it’s been.

When I first walked through our doors in September 2023, I saw tremendous potential. EDCOR had a solid foundation and deep community roots, but there were incredible opportunities to expand our reach. Our technology systems needed upgrades, our staffing structure had room to grow, and our programs were ripe for innovation. Most importantly, the need in our community was clear; families eager to become homeowners, neighbors seeking to improve their properties, and a city ready for revitalization.

Over the past two years, we’ve reorganized our services and refined how we communicate our work, all with one goal in mind: reaching more people who need our help. Every system upgrade and streamlined process has followed one guiding question: How can we help more people?

The results speak volumes. In June alone, we invested nearly $60,000 into community improvements. This time last year, 10 families had applied for home improvement loans; today, that number has nearly doubled to 19. Our Down Payment Assistance program has been even more impactful—31 families started their journey to homeownership in the first half of 2025, compared to just 13 during the same period last year.

But the real story isn’t in the numbers alone. Behind every statistic is a family, like R.C., who went more than two years without properly working plumbing, or B.B., whose leaking roof was finally replaced, ending the water that dripped into her granddaughter’s room. These repairs don’t just fix houses; they restore comfort, safety, and dignity. Each project is a reminder that a stable home can change everything for a family.

Our organizational growth has been just as exciting. We’ve welcomed new, talented staff; launched our website and social media presence; and built an automated system that helps us respond to applications more quickly and efficiently. We also began new partnerships, including a summer internship program with Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.).

Looking ahead, I’m excited about the innovative programs we’re developing. We’re exploring solar upgrade initiatives to support the city’s sustainability goals and planning a home renovation program that would allow us to acquire and rehab properties for future owner-occupants.

What makes me most proud isn’t just the growth it’s how thoughtfully and efficiently we’re using our resources to meet community needs. A huge part of that success is thanks to our outstanding Program Manager, Emma Davies, whose empathy and brilliant organizational mind have transformed how families experience our programs. She’s made it easier than ever to access help, always keeping the human story at the center of our work.

The need in our community is real, and we are honored to meet it with energy, innovation, and heart. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, I’m filled with hope and excitement for the many more neighbors we’ll be able to serve in the years ahead.
